A Review of the Beachbody Insanity Workout

There are many home exercise programs in the market today that claim to make you lose weight in a specific time-frame. Some live up to their promise, others do so in part while still others fail miserably. This is a Beachbody Insanity review on a workout that goes by that name. What's it about? Does it work? Read on to find out.

From the developers of P90X and Brazil Butt-Lift comes Insanity. Beachbody developed this 10-DVD home workout that, it claims, guarantees to rid you of those excess pounds and tone your body in as short as two months. With well-known fitness instructor Shaun T guiding you through the entire hour-long (or almost hour-long) sessions, the Insanity regimen features cardiovascular and bodyweight exercises as well as plyometrics that's supposed to make you lose weight and get ripped.

The Beachbody Insanity workout starts with a fitness test so you know where you're at and can compare your progress all throughout the entire regimen. Following a method known as Max Interval Training, the routine lets you do the exercises at increasing levels of intensity in between 30-second water breaks. There are cardio recovery exercises that allow your system to rest from the regular intense exercises but don't be fooled: These aren't easy routines to do. They can't be skipped as well since they serve to prepare your body for other phases of Insanity.

The good thing about Insanity is that it's a total body regimen. Through cardiovascular exercises and bodyweight training, this program will not only make you lose excess flab and tone your body, it will also improve your overall health and develop your "functional" strength so are able to do day-to-day activities correctly and protect yourself from injury.

Together with the DVDs is a nutrition guide that outlines the dietary regimen you need to follow while you're on the program. It tells you to take your meals five times at two to three hour intervals. This is scientifically sound since more frequent meals allow your body to burn more calories and fat. In the second month of the workout, you are required to eat more calories to compensate for the ramped up metabolism Insanity has put your body through. This also goes with healthy nutritional practices.

Since this is a comprehensive Beachbody Insanity review, it's an honest evaluation of this program. While it's almost perfect where exercises and the sound nutritional guide that accompanies it are concerned, the downside with Insanity is that it's not for everyone. The highly-intense workout sessions are for those who have already developed some form of cardiovascular endurance through regular exercises. For couch potatoes to rush headlong into this workout would not only be difficult, it would be medically unsound.

To conclude this Beachbody Insanity review, it would be safe to say that this workout regimen is effective in reducing weight and strengthening your muscles in the amount of time it promises to do so. If you have already been exercising to some degree prior to Insanity or are prepared to tackle the tough routines in this regimen, then it is one of the best workouts to try.
